Arrival Day- Pick up at Enrique Malek airport in David and transfer to Hotel Ladera in Boquete. Orientation to the town of Boquete and introduction, setup of controls and suspension to the Husqvarna TE250i enduro motorbikes at Panama Enduro Tours headquarters.

Day 2

Caldera-Fortuna-Chiriquicito. 8.30am tour introduction and safety briefing before we head out for a day of riding. We will ride from the area of Volcancito to Lucero through country lanes with coffee plantations either side, once we get to Lucero we will be riding down a gravel trail that leads to the sleepy town of Caldera . Crossing the Caldera River we will pass by the hot springs and ride a flowing easy trail to the town of Paja Sombrero. From Paja Sombrero we will head up the Caldera Valley to a height of 1,337M with fantastic views down the valley. The riding in this stretch of trail is fast double track along the side of the valley and it comes to an end at the Fortuna dam which is the half way point between Chiriqiui and Bocas del Toro. We will stop here for a rest beside a waterfall and eat some fresh fruit and some chicken empanadas to fuel us up for the next leg of our adventure. We cross over the dam and work our way down the other side of the valley arriving back in the town of Caldera for lunch time. Lunch is at our favorite local restaurant which serves some excellent local food. After lunch we will cross over the Caldera river again and ride down the trail to the hot springs “La Abuela”. Bring your swim suits so we can take a well-earned dip in the therapeutic waters. After the hot springs we will ride on the upper Caldera circuit which is a fun double track with a short technical rocky section to arrive at the Hotel Horizontes in Chiriquicito where we will spend the night

Day 3

Starts at 9 am with a double track ridgeline ride to the beginning of a farm. We will drop down through this farm using single track cow trails which will lead us down to reservoir Barrigon. A fast run alongside the reservoir on a gravel track brings us out into the sleepy town of Gualaca famous for its mini canyon “Cangilones”. We will have a typical Panamanian lunch here next to the horse rodeo and after lunch we will ride down to Cangilones to jump into the canyon to cool down. After our swim we will have a choice of either riding a single track technical climb back up to the town of Caldera or a faster flowing trail. Once we are back in Caldera we have a short ride on the road to our destination for the night which is Eden Canyon which overlooks the Caldera canyon.

Day 4

Starts at 9 am with a short 5 minute ride down the road to bring us to some double track trails interspersed with some short technical pieces which leads to the town of Dolega on the highway to Boquete. We will cross the highway and head up on some easy trails up to the area of Potrerillos famous for its Orange groves. The trail for the next few hours is fast flowing but it has some tricky sections thrown in to break things up especially a nasty loose hill climb named after Panama Enduro Tours owner. Riding through a coffee farm and through some cloud forest we eventually come out onto a farm track for a faster run to our lunch spot. Stopping for lunch in the tiny town of “El Paraiso” we will continue on towards the town of Volcan riding through a cattle farm and some rural tracks to bring us to town. If we still have time left we can ride up to an area called the bus and the jeep high up in the cloud forest for those that still have energy left. We will stay for the night at Hotel Los Brezos in the farming town of Volcan.

Day 5

Leaving at 9 am with a quick run on the road leading down to David we will reach the trail head at a place called “Cuesta de Piedra” Here we have 2 options depending on the ability of the group. The easy way is fast gravel track all the way down to “Bugaba” the other has a bunch of technical single track trails and a tough river crossing with some double track in between for a breather. Once we get down to “Bugaba” we will ride alongside the river down to “Alanje” This section is pure river rocks everywhere but we do have a couple of exit points on to some rural roads if it gets too much. From “Alanje” down to the ocean we have some sandy fast trails through sugar cane fields. Stay the night at Barqueta beach in Hotel las Olas.

Day 6

Volcano Challenge, Barqueta beach to the top of Volcan Baru. With an early start we head off along fast sandy trails from the beach through small villages and then across a boulder strewn river and then through sugar cane fields. Right before David, we come to a canyon that the river destroyed the bridge so the only way across is to lower the bikes down the canyon side by ropes! Refuel in David, then we reach the trails of San Antonio and El Valle which are super fun fast tracks leading up to Gualaca. Crossing the wide river at Gualaca we take the technical single track up to Caldera and then further single track up to the famous “Nino Grande” hill which seems to be never ending! Arriving at Jaramillo we pass through some more single-track connections that drop down to Boquete. Refueling in Boquete we then ride through a coffee plantation to arrive at the foot of the Volcano. Only 30 more minutes and we will be at the top of the Volcano the highest part of Panama. Important to keep your momentum up on this last stretch as there is a lot of loose rock in sections. Finally, we reach the top at 3,474M. Mission completed! Once we are back at PET HQ we will transport you down to Hotel Ladera. 110km double track, 50km single track, 0-3474M altitude.
